If you have a floppy disk in the A: disk drive, remove it and then restart the computer. You may have left a data diskette in there and the PC tries to check the floppy drive first for any bootable diskettes.

You can change this while the machine is booting by pressing a special key (usually the ESC, F1, or DEL key) to get into the BIOS and then selecting the boot devices to be in a different order. Most older PCs are set to boot from Diskette, CDROM, then Hard Drive as their default.

If there is SUPPOSED to be a bootable diskette in that drive when you start up (you are using a really old PC with Windows 3.1 or something similar), then the diskette you are using is no good anymore, and you will need to prepare another bootable diskette to start the PC. Review the FORMAT comamnd to see how to create a bootable O/S diskette.

Remove the floppy disk from your PC and reboot. IF that does not fix the problem you can disable the floppy drive in the BIOS.
