First, talk to your doctor about it. Second, join weight watchers. My wife had 4 kids and when she was 37 decided she needed to drop the weight. She joined Weight Watchers and started working out moderately at the gym. Within a year she was a lifetime member at WW (meaning she had reached her goal weight and kept it off for several weeks). She has lost 70 pounds and is now trying to get down the the weight she was when we got married.
We together have tried everything you can think of (low-carb, hollywood, slim-fast, etc, etc) and the weight watchers plan was the best we had ever seen. It was wholeheartedly recommended by our doctor and we have both seen success (together we have lost almost 110 lbs so far). WW also has a better track record than a lot of other plans for keeping weight off and is much more forgiving during holidays and easier to work into a true lifestyle change which is the ONLY way to affect long-lasting weight loss.
Other plans like atkins artificially restrict necessary parts of your diet and can lead to health problems and are virtually impossible to stick with long term. Weight watchers teaches you how to eat sensibly, without denying yourself your favorite treats and foods, using the foods you eat everyday. I know my wife dropped off the weight watchers plan completely for about a month and a half during Christmas and Thanksgiving this year, but only gained 7 pounds because of what Weight Watchers has taught her about food. She had a great holiday, did not feel deprived and did not pack on the pounds. Now, in the first 2 weeks after Christmas she has already lost 3 of those 7 pounds. You can't beat that!
No matter what you do, see your doctor first. Especially when child-bearing is in the equation. Good luck!

It depends on how much you weigh now. If you weigh around 250 or 300 hundred punds it would be ok to lose 100 pounds, but if you only weigh arounf 150 or 200 I would only go for 25 to 50 pounds to be on the safe side. Weight Watchers is a really good and safe plan to lose weight. They have meeting you can go to and you also get points to how much you way so you dont over eat everyday. Also, it is very good to walk a mile or around a half a mile almost everyday and keep hydrated. Make sure when you are try to lose weight not to make your self not eat cause that makes you unhealthy and very much harder to lose weight. Well, what ever you try I hope you reach your goal.

First of all ur breakfast needs to be the biggest meal of ur day, eat five times a day but each time smaller portions so by dinner time ur not eating soo much. Excercise ATLEAST an hour a day. It might seem like a lot but after a week yu will feel healthier and fitter. Dont think of dieting as something horrible instead have a more positive look at it. You should not just want to lose weight but get healthier as well. Shortcut ways only make you umhealthy and have many risk factors. To keep the weight of you need to keep he excercise program. Use weights, but if ur not ready start of by just excercise alone. Find what you liek to do whether its dancing, funning or swimming. Just keep being Active. Dont sit to much, when you have nothing to do excercise or just walk around your house. Hope this helps you because it helped me.

Honestly Dottie if you change your lifestyle to a healthier one right now you should be able to safely lose 100 lbs in about a year and a half and keep it off.
Diet and fitness work together toward a healthy lifestyle. Changing your diet and your level of fitness is what can change the way you look and feel. The best way to lose weight is about living a healthier life than what you may be living now. You will need a complete lifestyle change and you will need to be committed. The body loses about 2 pounds a week optimally and that’s 2 pounds that stay off. When you drop at a faster rate your body could potentially rebound and either plateau your weight loss or put extra weight on. If you are committed then you should reach your goal.
This bit of advice is something I tell anyone who asks whether you are my client or not.
There are 5 most important things that must go together in any workout program. These are part of changing your complete lifestyle to one that is healthier. They also help you to naturally optimize your metabolism. The faster your metabolism the better your body uses your food for energy, instead of storing it as fat.
I put them in the order of importance.
1. Eat more. Yes eat more. More meals that is. It is best to eat a small meal every 3-4 hours. The meal should be just large enough to where you are not hungry, as opposed to eating you are full. There is a difference, think of it as no bigger than the size of your two fists put together. Eating 1 or 2 meals a day slows your metabolism down. You should have at least 4-6 meals a day. For most a ratio of carbs-proteins-fats should be 50%-25%-25% is good, but each person is unique.
2. Drink more water. Most of us don’t have enough water. This means our bodies are dehydrated. Two things a dehydrated body has trouble doing, one is releasing water. In order to lose fat you must be able to release water, because fat cells in your body are composed of mostly water. A dehydrated body cannot build very well. Muscle tone indicates a constant building state in your body. If your body isn’t building that means it is losing muscle and it’s never good to lose muscle that slows your metabolism and makes you look flabby.
3. Maintain a balanced workout regimen of cardio and resistance (weights). Cardio is good for fat burning and it’s easy to do and to progress yourself. Resistance is a little harder because it’s not as easy to know what to do. If weights aren’t your thing then try Yoga or Pilates. Both are very effective resistance and core training and can help you maintain lean muscle and increase your overall metabolism.
4. Smart supplementation of your diet is your best solution to making sure you get the nutrients your food doesn’t give you. A daily multivitamin will suffice in most cases, and if you don’t like pills they sell it in liquid form. Plus cleanses, as well as detox formulas are awesome for eliminating toxins we take into our bodies without knowing.
5. Sleep is a very important part of any healthy lifestyle regimen. When we sleep our bodies and minds refresh themselves and allow us to function at an optimal level. Sleeping allows muscles to rebuild themselves and when they do that, it speeds your metabolism.
You may ask why I gave you this long list instead of just telling you what exercises to do. The reason is if you think that exercising is all you need then you are mislead. If exercising is all we needed to look and feel great then everybody who works out at the gym would have great bodies and be healthy. If you have been to a gym before you know its not true.

The atkin's diet is the way to go. It's worked for many of my friends and family members. My father in law lost over 112 lbs
and kept it off.
The only thing with Akins is that you have to take all the vitamins it says too and follow it to the letter without cheating or you will develop some health problems. It's great if you can stay on it, though.
My friends and family have and they have all remained in great health and have lost huge amounts of weight.

Diet and exercise. Sign up at a gym and get a trainer who can help you with a nutrition plan and regular training sessions - 1-2 times per week - to show you proper form and order of what to do and when. You will see results right away, as much as 15 pounds the first month.

One thing I've found that works is to eat only chicken and vegetables and drink lots of water, for 3 solid days at the start of the diet. It gets your system moving and gives you energy. I always found that I needed to start it off right or I would lose my enthusiasm too soon. During the 3 days, increase your water until you are easily drinking about 7 or 8 glasses a day. Once energy level starts to rise, the exercise routine works in well... it just gives it all a nice kick start. Afterward, start introducing other foods back in and try to balance it out. Don't starve yourself! Best of luck. :)
