There are a lot of things you can do!!! First thing is to decide what is most important to you and your future hubby. Pick three things that mean the most to you. For example you two may decide on your rings, cake and your dress. Then those are the things you spend the most on.

I HATE favors so for my wedding we are giving little candy bars with our names on the (100 are only abut $40!). That saved us tons!

You can do a family only reception. That will cut costs too. If you know someone witha big yard why not ask them if you can throw your reception there?

As for flowers- make your own bouquets! I am buying mine and making my bridesmaids. That is saving us a lot. Basically you can just use teh flowers that are in season at teh time.

Realize that this day is not about how much you spend and how big your wedding is. Its about celebrating your love for each other!

First off girl let me say I have been married twice. The first time I spent $10,000 bucks and it didn't work out after 5 years she was off sleeping with someone else.I spent 5 more years alone just dating then got remarried to my present wife of now 9 years. We went to the justice of the peace and had a big party between our neighbors yard and ours.
You see, the real thing to think about is the wedding is the least important part of the whole union of marriage.Yes, it is a special day and something you want to remember. But your not going to remember all the frilly things, or who sat where and what flowers were there. You are going to remember your friends and family and all that were there to enjoy your day.You will remember the toasts, the first dance, and the hugs and love of those that may not be there in the future, which the video will give you a replay of.
If I was you, find the best way to spend 2 of that 5 and put the rest in the bank for you guys towards a good savings for your future. All those that love you don't care what you spend, only the ones that you shouldn't of and didn't really want to invite will think of that. So, cut them out, laugh, eat, dance and start off your marriage on the right foot. With a little money in the bank.

I paid for my entire wedding and reception for under $1000. I rented tuxes, the church, reception hall, paid the organist, bought bridesmaids there dyed shoes, gave them the dresses as a gift, and took care of all the flowers, and did all the catering myself. I did get Bi-Lo to make me a wonderfu, absolutely delicious wedding cake.. It was only $100... The only thing I didn't pay for was the bridesmaid dresses (a wedding gift from my boss). All the little extras like flower girl basket and all that was purchased at none other than Wal-Mart !!! It can be done !!! You just gotta know where to shop! I did buy my dress at a 2nd hand store, but it looked brand new. I thought it was gorgeous. It was only $200. So, it can be done for less. I had planned about 100 guests... So, hope all goes well for you I hope that you can make your budget !!

I had a very stylish wedding on a very tight budget. You just have to be willing to cut corners, and know which ones to cut. One of my biggest money savers was on the food at the reception, (we had the reception at a town hall which we were charged very little for) instead of having the food catered, we brought it in ourselves. We bought all of our food at a wholesale club, and then had people we knew prepare the food for us, which saved us quite a bit of money. I had small floral bouquets for my wedding party, and those we still put together ourselves. That there saved another few hundred dollars. The center pieces at our reception were also very simple.....mirrors, with a glass bowl filled with water, rose petals, and votive candles on top. We bought all the supplies at a discount store, and again made everything ourselves.
Our ceremony site was very minimally decorated, but done very nice...my flowers were all roses, and the colors for my wedding were red and black. Overall my wedding was very simple, but very elegant...and within my budget. So if you're willing to cut corners in places, and do some of the work yourself, and ask family and friends to help, you can have a very stylish wedding in your budget.

A friend of mine had a beautiful wedding for less than that. She went to Costco and bought wild flowers and we ( 3 bridesmaids and myself as the maid of honor) made our own bouquets including one of white roses with lavender for the bride. She bought a wedding dress for 100$ at David's bridal on sale and our dresses were simple A line dresses from the dress barn. We all paid for our own updo hair and did our own make up in shades of purple. The groom and groomsmen rented tuxs' rather than buying them. The best man got ordained online to perform the ceremony. The food was all bought at Costco, pork loin, potatoes, veggies, and cheap champagne and then cooked by the staff at the reception hall. It was cheap but beautiful and it was more personal to them because all of their friends did the stuff for them and so we all put our own personal touches on everything. By the end of the night she was in tears at how well it all came together and how she couldn't of planned it better with an unlimited budget. We Also just used plain white table cloths in the reception hall and went to Wal-Mart and got fake lavender colored rose petals and candles for the centerpieces. Instead of hiring a photographer she bought disposable cameras and stuck a note on each one that said " see a moment, snap a picture" and she got some wonderful shots!
