I want to get a small tattoo on the skin under my chin between the bones, not on my neck. Is this a possibility or is there some reason that this is a bad idea???
I realized after getting some responses that maybe I should add detail. First of all, it is a personal tattoo so I'd like for it to be visible but discreet. I like this idea. Also, I'm 5'1 so not many people will be able to see it. I already have a large back tattoo. I'd like something smaller now. I guess I'm asking if this is a bad idea because I want to know if it is a risky area for a tat and if most (or few) artists would be willing to do it.

it is entirely possible and has been done for centuries! talk to your tattoo artist and see if she/he is comfortable doing a tattoo there...some artists refuse to work on some areas...

and dont listen to the a-r-s-e-hats and their "what will your kids think of you" crap...i have 10 tattoos and my kids love them. if you like it, get it done.

*footnote....ouch.....

Too the people on here, Tattoos are not necessarily seen all the time. Some people get tattoos but are discreet about them because of work or just because they are private but still want them on their skin. I wouldnt go as far as too say gross but that area may not be a good idea. It may be hard to tattoo especially tilting just perfect where they can do it. People have tattooed their the inside of their lip before so I believe anything is possible. Maybe put it on the back of your neck where you hair would hide it. I think maybe if it on th echin area like that, people may mistaken it for a pen mark, or dirt. Your body may go through changes as well, too such a degree that it may become visible and if you work that could be a problem. I would just reconsider the area

I have tattoos so I am not saying do not go for it, I am just saying think about it. I have a daughter so for people on here going on about what will your kids think, for one I do not think you have kids. For two you are probably about 14 and for three, I would be proud to show her because they mean alot

ALSO how small? Some artists will not do them too small because over time they can blur and you wouldn't be able to tell what it was

Seriously, I don't think you asked for an opinion on tattoos themselves, so I don't know why people have to comment on how your kids will feel or about getting jobs. But anyway, yes it is very possible, but I'm sure that spot would be painful. If it's something you really want to do, who cares what other people think, go for it. Good luck to you!

That's an interesting place to get one, alot more creative then the most common places women get tattooed (ie. lower back and ankle, which in my opinion is sooooo boring). Get something colorful so it won't be mistaken for a piece of food or something equally embarrassing. Good luck.

kat von d has a tattoo exactly where you are talking about it. you can rarely see hers, except for when she is tattooing and they have a low camera shot or something. it's a small tattoo. but of course you should think about later in life if you get the whole turkey neck thing... but there's always plastic surgery.

If you want it find a tattoo artist you trust and get it done. F**k all these people taking about kids and professional ****, tattoo's won't keep you from anything you want unless you let them.

Well if you an experienced tatoo artists there really shouldn't be a problem but the skin is very fragile especially in that area. It could damage your throat but the chances are thin as long as they know what they're doing.

I would take in consideration if you are looking to enter into a serious career. You really wouldn't be "professionally" taken if you have a tattoo right on your neck area, it just wouldn't be a smart move. Other than that, it's your choice

The "III" tattoo on the chin was once a desired mark of beauty and nobility.
