The "bing Bong" alarms are actually notifications.
you would hear them mostly for either of these two reasons-
-somebody has called the server/airhostess
-the air hostess /server has picked up the phone to either make an announcement or to talk to the pilot, air hostess at the other end, etc.
Its not sinister or notification of danger.

There is a tone everytime the caution lights come on in the cabin to bring your attention to them. If the flight is transitting areas of turbulence, the captain will cycle the "seat belt" sign as required. Each time it comes on, you will hear the tone. Also, if the first officer is hitting on the lead attendant, every time he calls back the intercom will tone similarly.
Nothing sinister. You won't hear those in the cabin. Only the pilots get to hear those.

No reason to get nervous at all. I am an airliner and the sounds you hear are nothing other than the pilot is calling the flight attendants. It´s the kind of phones they have. So when you hear that bing bong, that means the pilot just want to talk to one of the flight attendants or the actually the purser and want to let her or him know something or is asking for something. NO WORRIES, please. The sound is just to let the staff know the pilot or copilot needs to know something or wants to let them know of something. That´s all. ;)
Travel safe!

after hearing 4 consecutive bing bongs that is when you worry. the 4th bing bong is a serious message to the cabin crew that there is a major problem. 1 = passenger has pressed 2 = cabin crew has pressed 3 = pilot needs assistance 4 = you are probably going to crash!

As well as what the other people have told you, In some aircraft the "bing bongs" are also to alert you to fasten your seat safety belts if there is turbulence ahead.

It is other passengers calling for the Trolley Dollies.. just a bing bong that you can hear to let you know they have been called which sets a light in their Cabin to let them know that someone wants some attention. nothing sinister at all
