at what age should you start 7in1 and how often should you vaccinate? What if the dog only was vaccinated once at age 10 weeks, and not followed up? Do I start all over

no you don't start over. once the puppy is over 12 weeks as your is you just do 1 shot over 12 weeks and a follow up.. not the whole series of 3 shots again
the 7-1 shot is known here as the puppy booster.. please see the manufactures directions

The best age to start is at 8 weeks followed by 2 boosters each one month apart. Yes you will probably need to start over depending long its been since the last shots. But it is VERY important toget them fully vaccinated. Parvo doesnt care if they only have one shot it can still attack. Until they are fully boostered they dont have full protection from diseases. So keep them away from public places like parks or yards of dogs you dont know their shot history. Parvo can stay in the environment for up to 6 months. Please take the dog in for shots. It is less expensive and time consuming to vaccinate them now than it is to have to treat parvo or something else later. Good luck

Oh and what I have been told by my vets is that the maternal antibodies wear off at about 7-8weeks thus starting vaccines at 6 weeks is pointless and starting them at 8 weeks is beneficial

No. The reason for giving multiple puppy shots is that the maternal antibodies interfere with the vaccine. If they are still present in the pup's system, the vaccine will not be effective. But we don't know exactly when the antibodies wear off in a particular puppy, and we don't want the pup to be unprotected for any longer than necessary, so we give a series of shots to minimize the risk.

Yes i agree with smurf, vaccinations should be done yearly, i was told by our vet that they need boosters yearly but not everything needs vaccinating yearly so with each yearly booster they will just inject with the things that need topping up on so will they should use an alternating scheme of Full Boosters (against Distemper,Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza and Leptospirosis) and Small Boosters (against Parvo, Parainfuenza and Lepto) as Distemper and Hepatitis vaccinations will last for at least 2 years.
