Amos prophesied to the Northern Kingdom, the Ten Northern Tribes. (776-763 BCE). It was during the reign of Jeroboam II.
Their prosperity was short-lived. Within 50 years of the prophecy, the 10 tribes were wiped out and taken in bondage.

Hosea 9:2 warns that the prosperity they enjoyed would not last.
9:3 states that Israel will not dwell in the Lord's land. They had left the Lord and turned to the worship of idols, and Baal. (2Kiings 17 & 18 )

Amos was a "shepherd and a vine-dresser" from Judah who came north to preach to the leaders of the northern kingdom, Israel. His complaint was that they were living a comfortable life and giving lip-service to the worship of God, while ignoring the plight of poor people and taking care only of themselves by cheating customers, rigging deals, and buying off cheerleading "prophets".
