Good advice so far from above. Keep it clean, apply ice to take away the heat, and use loose filling gauze to cover the wound - no sticky tape - NO!

Stay away from greasy lotions if you can for now - until it scabs over, then apply the anti-microbiotic. If it get real red - run to the doctor.

You'll forget about it in a day or two - believe me.

Wash the area with a mild soap and water and use an antibiotic cream on the wound and keep it covered since it is open. If you have a tea tree oil ointment that is even better to use. If the itching is really bad consider taking some Claritin aka loratidine or some Benadryl aka diphenhydramine.

I'd try pure Aloe Vera gel to help heal it, but perhaps it ought to be covered to keep foreign matter out. Watch the swelling, don't scratch and I didn't know that ibuprofen was good for such things. How'd you learn that it is? Might also add Vit. E to your diet.
