Unfortunately, rabies shot or not, any dog bite that breaks the skin has to be reported to the dog warden in your town. Rabies shots lose their effectiveness as time passes, i.e. if a dog's annual shots are given February 1st each year then the shot now is nearing its expiration date.
The dog needs to be quarantined for 3 reasons:
* To be observed for 2 weeks to make sure he
doesn't have Rabies.
* To keep him from running away and then never
knowing if he was infected with Rabies.
* To keep him from biting anyone else.
I know that the above sounds like a hassle, especially if the dog's owner is a friend of yours, but remember your health might seriously be at risk.
As far as the tetanus shot is concerned, check with your doctor on that.
Hope the doggie just needs a muzzle and not be sick, which means you'll live!!

Yes!!!! Also, how well do you know this dog? Do you know if it has a valid rabies vaccination? If you dont know the answer to that question, then you need to get a rabies shot too. First, continue to clean the area well with rubbing alcohol and then put antibiotic ointment on it. The problem with animal bites over everything else is INFECTION. Then you need to see your family Dr. or go to the ER.

Tetanus? What about RABIES? You DO need to go to the doctor right away. If they cannot find the dog that bit you, you will need to start on rabies shots immediately.
Rabies IS 100% fatal once you start having the symptoms.

You won't need another tetanus shot for 10 years so don't worry about that. If you know the dog has his shots, like rabies, etc. just keep it clean its probably fine.

If it is a stray dog, go see your doctor. Chances are you should get a rabies shot just to be safe.

You don't get tetanus from a dog bite. You get it from stepping on a rusty nail or something like that. You get rabies from dog bites.

If it punctured the skin, probably so. But if you have had a shot in the last 10 years, your still good.
