My hair is a little past my shoulders, and thin/flat. I'm thinking about a body wave. Is this a good idea?!

It depends on the hair condition first off.
If a wave is all you want then with thin or fine hair large rods should be used and be sure to get a new shampoo and conditioner for permed hair. Your hair will need protein to stay wavy for about 8 weeks or so. It could last longer if you take care of it and it is done well.

The most important thing is to be sure your hair is in good condition to start.
See someone who is experienced at perms as most people haven't done them as we did day after day in the 80's

Good Luck

Choose a stylist wisely and then ask for the body wave with the largest rods. I think you'll be pleased and just keep it in good condition. I like Tigi Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Shampoo & Conditioner. You might want to invest in a diffuser to slightly dry the hair without blowing it all over. Use a good hair gel before diffusing.

If you want waves, I hate getting perms though because they grow out then you have straight roots.
