Black is a difficult color to deal with in general.
Black hair will only life 4 levels then it will turn orange.
Going a dark ash brown will keep the tone and help lift a few shades without giving a golden orange glow.

You should go to the hair stylist. Because of your hair being black it will be hard to get it to the color you want with out frying it. A stylist will know how to go about it safely.

I have almost black hair. You need to go to your salon to get exactly what you want. I learned from mistake. A friend gave me highlights. They were supose to B lighter brown. I got blonde that just kept getting blonder in the sun. :-( I was very unhappy

go to a good salon.. they have to first lighten your base colour .. then highlight it.. then use a top colour on the highlighted bleached strands.. DO NOT do it at home.. your hair will be ruined at home and look orange
