Why do you want to spend £ 60 000, I guess you mean £ 6000 and it has to be a Rover 45 Diesel, big cabin, economical Diesel Honda design.
If it is £ 60 000, S class, you wont get a Bentley Flying Spur (?) 4 door yet and the Audi is just a bloody Audi, and if spending 60K fuel costs are a non problem, fuel economy give Range over £50K, You dont want to stop for fuel between Lunch and Dinner do you.

I would potentially look at the volvo estates. Firstly because the boot always has ample space and secondly although the MPG might not be as good as some equivalent cars but the engines run for eternity so you will be able to keep for longer, and they are quite spritely when accelerating and comfortable at the same time.

Assume you mean 6000 not 60000!
Also assume you don't need any recommendations of US models or 4x4s
I suggest something like a VW Passat estate or a Renault Laguna estate.

I must go with Graham C. Volvo's are very reliable, roomy and even more, VERY SAFE! I would go with a S60 or S80. They get around 23 mpg I believe, so its pretty good.
