My grandpa sais that they don't but is he right? A lot of our dogs died from someone poisning them, and it made me wonder if they went to Heaven. So, do they? I just want your opinion, but if some one can find a scripter in the Bible that explains, please tell it to me.

According to the bible, animals do not contain a mortal soul. Therefore, they do not go to heaven.

Then again, you could head on over here ( http://www.ourchurch.com/member/w/w_lasalle/ ), and read a completely different view point.

Whether or not animals go to "heaven" lies in the beliefs of each individual person.

Many believe that animals don't have souls, which means that when they die, they exist no more. But because I have an interest in life after death, I have read several books on people that have had "near death experiences" this means they have died and been brought back. Many people report that they have seen their beloved pets in heaven. Also, soon after my friends cat died, she was traveling in her car when suddenly both her and her son heard the cat mewing. My friend said she knew with certainty that it was her cat that they heard inside that car. She believes the cat was letting her know that he was doing fine on the other side. She loved this cat very much and mourned his death. I'm sorry, I've never read a scripture on this subject. The only animals mentioned in the bible are related to Noah and the building of the ark, and to animal sacrifice, and those that were considered to be clean and unclean animals for consumption. There is a scripture in Isaiah that talks about the lion laying down with the lamb, and so on, but I believe it is referring to the New Jerusalem...but, it may very well be referring to heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.

Isaiah 11: 6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them. 7 Also the cow and the bear will graze, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. 9 they will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

Yes, they most assuredly do. Animals are innocent and give unconditional love. They have their own essence and are cognisant, sentient beings with the ability to feel love, sadness, pain and fear just the same as we do. If one wanted to go the religious route, they were created from the same source that we were and will return to the same place when they leave this earth. What's the point of having St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals then? We humans shouldn't think we're so all important that we're the only ones that get to heaven. Collectively, we're not that great as a species.

Genesis 1:30: "... and to every animal of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so."
Revelation 5:13 KJV: "And every creature which is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying. Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."

And frankly, in my opinion animal souls are purer than human ones.

I don't know for sure, but this verse says something about animals being in the new earth and heaven:

Isa 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Isa 65:18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
Isa 65:19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
Isa 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
Isa 65:21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
Isa 65:22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
Isa 65:23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
Isa 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

Does anyone find the diversity of answers on this question fascinating? Especially since in some cases you're getting opposite answers from the same religion? "Yes, they have souls" "No, they don't have souls" "Yes, they go to Heaven" "No, they don't go to Heaven" "The Bible says that they will" "The Bible says that they won't"...

As for me, I believe that the energy that makes an animal a unique individual (its spirit or soul) goes to the same place that the energy that makes a person a unique individual goes.

many, if not most Christian will tell you that animals don't have souls so animals don't go to heaven. this, of course, is species bias and they don't have a clue more than anyone else about the souls of animals, "God", heaven or anything else spiritual. they have only their opinion and their opinion of the opinion of the Bible writers.

i believe that if there is an afterlife and Love is your focus then all that you Love accumulates in your heaven. i Love all the Earth's creatures (except for mosquitoes, deer flies and most humans) so my heaven will be a reproduction of this planet without most humans.

I believe there is a very good possibility dogs will be in heaven. Here is what the Bible has to say about animals:

I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope that your family will prosecute whoever did such an evil thing to your dogs.

I believe that our beloved pets go to heaven. I can't believe that God would create life and then destroy it.

Also, Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals, and many Catholic churches have blessings of the pets on Saint Francis's feast day. Why would they bother to bless the pets if they don't have souls?
