you dont have to cook the noodles,if you add about 2 cups of extra water to the sauce, the noodles will cook.this is the way i make mine and it comes out great.for the recipe:
2 jars spaghetti sauce
uncooked noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
parmesan cheese
mozzerella cheese
fresh basil
ground beef
mix the cheeses together leave some extra mozzerella and parmesan for the topping.add the egg and fresh basil.cook the ground beef and add the tomato sauce.pour sauce on bottom of sauce, arrange the first noodles on bottom of pan top with some riccotta cheese mixture, then sauce.repeat steps until last layer of noodles on top.top with rest of sauce and the extra mozzerella cheese and parmesan.bake 1 hour.

Generally you used cooked lasagna noodles. There are noodles that you can buy that are parboiled already,so all you have to do is layer them in the pan with the sauce and they cook the rest of the way in the oven.Barilla makes a good brand, and I highly recommend using them.Anyway lasagna is really easy. All you do is start off with the noodles.Either the precooked,or the ones you boil on the stove.Take one 15-ounce container of ricotta cheese,2 eggs a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper,1/2cup of grated cheese and a pound of shredded mozzarella.Mix everything together and ladle some sauce in the bottom of a casserole dish.Layer as Follows:sauce noodles, cheese mixture, then do not put any more sauce in it till you`re done. You`re last layer should be noodles, then top it off with the rest of the sauce.Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes uncovered,or until it gets bubbly and is hot throughout.Enjoy!
Tip:The reason why I say don`t layer the sauce throughout the lasagna is because my mom always told me that doing this causes the lasagna to fall apart when you cut it.Also if you want to you can saute a pound of ground beef on the stove with minced garlic, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper and add it to the pasta sauce.Hope I was helpful!Have a great day!

There is a lasagna noodle called No-Cook, I however have never used them, nor will I ever. I prefer to cook my noodles al-dente (meaning still just a tad hard)
The only time I don't boil the noodles is when I make crockpot lasagna, which my husband loves to take to his company's potlucks and everyone loves it. Anyway, the noodles get soft on their own and would be mush if I boiled them first.
However when making my lasagna in the oven I prefer a very thick homemade sauce. To use uncooked noodles you would need a runny sauce. These recipes were thought up by woman who were just being lazy, or maybe a man.

I've made lasagna for years, and I've never cooked the noodles first - there's enough moisture in the meat, the sauce and the cheeses to cook the noodles through.

Hey! You lucked out. Some recipes call for uncooked noodles and the extra juices in the sauce will make the noodles nice and soft and ready to eat.
So follow the recipe and then enjoy!

Without seeing the actual recipe, it's hard to tell. They might be using no-boil lasagna noodles, which don't need to be cooked before baking. For regular noodles, I've always cooked mine before assembling the lasagna (as did my mom, grandmother, great grandmother, etc.). You just want to slightly undercook the noodle so it doesn't get soggy while baking.
I've made lasagna with no-boil noodles and they've turned out great. Don't tell my grandma.

buy no-cook lasagna noodles and follow the recipe on the box
If you have a sauce that is thin enough it should cook the noodles when it is baking, but to be on the safe side i would boil them for about 5 min (halfway cooked) and then put them in the lasagna

Check the box again, they recently invented lasagne noodles that cook in the oven, you don't have to boil them first. I've never used them, but have read about them. If the box the noodles came in says boil the noodles, do that. If its just printed that way in the recipe you can ignore it...follow the noodle instructions

This is easy, you can but noodles that do not have to be boiled first, but they are not that great. follow your recipe and disregard the uncook noodles and use your cooked dante noodles. Extra tip in sauce use itailan sausage, the taste is awesome.
