Talk sweetly to your kitty, pick him/her up gently, put him/her in the litter box, take the front paw and make little scraping motions while telling him/her "Good kitty!"
I did this with my kitten several times over a couple of days and it worked out just fine.
Positive reinforcement works.

I had this problem about 2 months ago when we decided to adopt a 5 week old kitten. Which isn't supposed to happen since Kittens cannot leave their mother until weeks later, but anyways we were able to teach her everything. Teaching her how to use the litter box was a bit frustrating at first since she didn't want to use the litter box. But after putting her in there, grabbing her paws and pushing the litter around made her aware of her instincts to poop/pee there. I suggest doing the same. Just grab your kitty, rub her/his paws in the litter, continue doing throughout the day, and you must keep putting him/her in there so that she/he gets used to it. Evenutually the kitty will get the point. Don't worry, it will eventually happen. Cats are pretty instinictive about this kind of stuff, it just takes patience.

After the kitten eats, just keep putting him in the box until he goes. I have tried making scratching noises in the box, and that also seems to help. Also, I agree with the last guy, try using another type of litter, maybe something with smaller grains...nothing too big.

Everytime you see her tryin to squat, pick her up and toss her in the litter box(not literally of course!!). Or you could pick up some of her "cookies" and toss them in her litter box. She'll smell them in there and it will make her think that she's supposed to use that, instead of here or there.

You can also pick her up and put her in there, and take her paws and show her that she can dig in it. She'll like digging in it, and she'll start to use the litter box instead of where ever she usually goes.

If those don't work, then take her litter box, and put it on the spot she usually goes. She'll have her scent, but the only other place for her to go is in her box. So she'll start to use it there, then take her box and movie it, clean the spot with amonia(not strong, just strong enough to kill the smell), and some smell good stuff, then cover it back up, and let it dry. When it dries, move the box closer and closer to where you want it to be, and she'll start moving with the box, eventually going where you want her to, not where she wants to go.

Keep putting kitten in litter until it uses it and praise kitten for using the litter.
Try changing litter as some cats are picking about litter.

Follow your cat around and whenever he looks like he is going to wee in a corner, pick him up and quickly put him in the litter box. Then, make a digging motion with your hands to show him what to do. If he jumps out, put him back in and try again. Also, if you want to, get some tissue or cotton wool and wipe it on his bum to stimulate him to make him want to go to the toilet.
I swear this works, and ours learnt in about 3 days.

Good luck!

after the kitten is done eating, take him straight to the litter pan, and just keep him there until he does the business..... thats sorta what we had to do to ours, as nothing else worked, annoying process, but it took him bout a week to catch on
