I want to sell the game I made in stores (retail/commercially/like any other game in stores.ex. Super Mario) Where would I start to have my game put out like that?

Before you say, "the game has to be really good in order..." this game is not your average free game you'll find on some site. This game beats the rest.

you have to find a publisher, of which there are many. Do some research on the net and find few video game publishers. If you're talking about a board game, then find board game publishers or start looking on the back of product boxes of similar games and work your way backward to the publisher.

A good way to gain attention is to self sell - set up a website that offers a Free 10 day demo of the game and the full access game at whatever you feel is appropriate ($29.99 - 59.99 is the range I have seen) you could also charge a membership if it is a community type game. If it is appealing enough a manufacturer will contact you and you can negotiate a sell of the product for points on the sale. The good news is you will be making money while waiting for the deal and may not need the deal to sell successfully.

I have good news & challenging news.

First, the good news is that you already have a product. That's great! The challenging news is that you may need to expose your project a little more, be sure you have your business plan in tact.

Serious minded investors and product developers will want to know your plan.

Here's what I suggest. Visit your local development corporation. Every state and major city have them. Development Corporations are governed by the Small Business Administration. Typically the services are free. These local agencies get government funding, which in turn is suppose to assist people just like you, especially if you have a winning business plan.

Caution: Be sure that you have your copyrights and patents. before taking it to any market.

You'll have to turn into a salesman and contact retailers to market your product in their stores.

Also, so you won't get duped, it is a good idea to get an attorney to close any deals before you sign anything.

As a business owner, I was never as successful as when I decided to license my products. It is amazing to have someone else make, ship, sell, and do the paperwork for you and all you do is deposit checks.

Find someone to license your game to. Make sure to have a good contract and protect your idea with confidentiality agreements.

Good luck

You will need to do a lot of market research and get all your costing etc stored out before going to them ( basicly a bussiness plan)

as if they feel you haven't go any idea of the market they won;t be interested.

you will need to know...

your target market ( age of the people you wanna buy it)

Name of the product

Retail price

Cost Price

and things like that

sell it like a movie, go to the big game makers and sell them on it.
Have a pitch ready, and tell them all you realluy want is disrtibution or a percentager of sales.
Who knows you might be the first to make this work.

Winter has a good idea. I would also contact an attorney that deals with this sort of thing.
