I'm asking myself the same question today. My wife, before we were married, used to say that she wouldn't want her husband to be a big, muscular, manly jerk. Now that we are married, she's saying I need to "be the man." I don't know what that means.

I'm with you, man. It's confusing as hell.

A lot of people (men and women) judge by looks alone, but good looks and muscles do not mean a thing if the person does not have a good personality to go with it. You want someone who will like you for you. Everyones likes and dislikes are different. Just be yourself and you will be happier in the end.

I look for a great personality, a sense of humor, maturity, good self esteem, a great smile and the way he treats me. If he has all of those qualities I could care less how he looks. My husband is only 5'3 and I am 5'10. But, he is the biggest man I have ever know.

I like men to be muscular but not creepily, more like tennis/fencing muscles. Have refined tastes in literature, film, cooking, and other things but a good sense of humour and lots of wit. I don't know about shy... I like more social people, but reserved is good. I like men who can talk though because it's very awkward to talk to someone and have them give one word answers. I very much like men who have very good fashion/style tastes, a poorly dressed man is death to me. In a relationship I'd like someone who doesn't think we should just be bf and gf forever.
(In no connection to what I said before) I like people who do stuff on a whim... because that is what I'm like.
It's important for a man to be interested in you though in a relationship, and it's very flattering.
