I already know that Jackson-hewitt does this, but i want to file my own taxes. Ive checked all websites, and they still have not answered my question. Please assist. Prefer people who file their own taxes. But any assistant is appreciated Happy New Year to all.

All the information that is on your w-2 should be reflected on your last pay stub. Rather there is no rule that says it is all there, but it usually is,

If you file your own, just fill in the boxes with the right information and you will be fine, it is easier to make a mistake this way though.

If you have a retirement account is it included in year to date wages? If it is a tax defferred account it shouldn't be.

Anyway, if you are confident that you can interpret your last paycheck then you should be fine doing this.

Your pay stub probably does not include your employers EIN no. that you need to file. Depending on you employer, the Year to date pay may or may not include pretax deductions such as 401(k) contributions. You need to know this to do you taxes properly.

I got the EIN from last years W-2 and compared that W-2 to my last pay statement from that year to determine what adjustments are needed. I won't be filing early though. I owe them this year.

Jackson-Hewett does not FILE taxes without a W-2. They estimate your return and offer a loan based on that amount. They are required by law to obtain a W-2 before they file. This is true even if they file electronically.
