If both parents have O I am pretty sure their children must also have O.

If both parents are type 0, then the child must be an 0 as well.

There are three blood types: A, B and 0. A and B are what is called dominant, while 0 is recessive.
Now, as you surely know, each child gets half their genes from the mom, the other half from their dad. So if daddy is type A and mommy is type 0, then the child will be A0, but because the 0 is recessive, the A will show as the childs blood type. Same is true for a combination of B and 0.

So for anybody to be recognized as Type 0, both their parents must be type 00. If there was an A or B anywhere in there, that would immediately "beat" the 0's and determine the childs blood type. Thats why type 0 blood is so rare, but it also makes exceptionally good donor blood, as it mixes with all the other types.

I dont know if I explained this very well, but I hope it got a bit clearer there...

Blood types evolved along with humans. Check out the introduction of the book "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" Even if you don't have any interest in following the diet, the intro. to this book explains how all of the various blood types came to be, and it is very interesting. I believe that a child of 2 "O" parents would also be an "O".

It is possible to have different blood types within one family, and no one is cheating. I am an A-negative, hubby is A-positive, and our daughter is O-positive. Other combinations are possible, as well. The first website below has a pretty easy-to-understand explanation of blood types.
