You're going to find that people either loved it or hated it. There isn't really an in between group. I thought the movie was great. It did a very good job of bringing the book to life. Many have complained because it was too long. But, as much as was packed into the book, to shorten the movie to the typical 80 minute thiller would have forced them to leave a lot out.

Side Note - If you like the book, Angels & Demons, one of Brown's previous books is even better than Da Vinci. You should check it out.

I thought the book was well-written, moved quickly, and found it very enjoyable to read. I even picture Jean Reno in the role of Baizu Fache.

The movie was just poorly made. Really one of Tom Hanks' worst. It could have been done far better.

As far as the controversy, it's almost comical. The popularization of Gnosticism, which as a heresy had been rejected soundly eons ago, is enjoying a resurgence only because of the distrust many unfortunately feel towards religion in general. I don't blame Dan Brown - he just capitalized on the sentiment and made a profit from a rife environment. It's a shame, too, the people of this world badly need something to believe in - and Christian Faith can do wonders for the soul.

Yes. It can be spiritually dangerous to Christians, because Da Vinci had a twisted mind. But it was a good book. Remember, It's Fiction. Not real.

Its all false, the author even claimed it was. He sayed it was a Christian fiction novel just like the series "Left Behind" was.

Not really - it was basically one huge chase scene that did nothing for me. I also found some of the "reasoning" behind it overblown and unlikely... and this from a Pagan. ;)
