I've never really told anyone about this, but I think it's kinda strange. And I can't seem to stop, it's a compulsive behavior for me. I pluck hairs. Any hairs. Hairs from my head, eyelashes, eyebrows, nose hairs, even pubic hairs, and the little hairs that grow from my knees. Weirdest thing is, a lot of the time, after I pluck a hair, I'll put the little round tip that was embedded in the skin between my lips to feel the weird wetness it has when it's freshly plucked. Or pubic hairs, when the first grow, have you ever noticed they have a white tip on the end (not the follicle, but the other end) that grows to be quite sharp. Anyway I've done this as long as I can remember, I wound up with bald patches on my eyelashes once when I was a kid, so I tried to break the habit. I wound up stopping for a while, it grew back, and I kept it up. Be brutal. Just how weird is this? Should I be worried about my mental health? Otherwise I'm fine.

It is called Trichotillomania and there are support groups for it, if it really bothers you... or talk to a professional about it. I think there are worse compulsions out there, but it can't hurt to talk to someone.

I'm gonna do some research on this, so hold tight for a minute. I know that I saw a documentary on this a while back, but can't remember what the name for the condition was. Back in a moment....

Ok, I found it. It's called trichotillomania. Try doing a search on that and I'm sure you can find some info.

" I just thought thought, before we go there, it would be a good idea to ask if there is anything you are particularly into? I don't like the idea of being surprised in bed and if there is anything that might surprise me there I would like a little time to think about it first." Or you can always be polite and ladylike and take the risk. Thank God that women don't have to be ladylike any more!

This could be a symptom of a treatable condition called obsessive compulsive disorder. It could just be a mild case, so maybe you should check in with a psychiatrist. It's nothing life threatening, but you could get some help for it.

weird i knew a girl who did the same thing but she would take the hair and tickle the inside of her nostril with it....not sure why she did it but most times she had no idea why she did. she was married to a loser of a husband which would explain why she was nuts though...maybe try doing something else, like with all nervous habits you can change them or modify your behavior. if you think talking to a counselor would help then do it.

Actually it's not as weird as you think. It's called Trichotillomania. It's a form of OCD. I am sure you can get help for it if you want to stop.
And don't worry....a lot of people have it in some form.

it is clearly a compulsive bahavior... nothing too serious, but compulsive nonetheless.

You should see a therapist, or psychologist, that specializes in treating compulsive behaviors.

You may have other compulsive behaviors of which you are not even aware.

Not unheard of, and it sounds like an anxiety/OCD. There's a ton of mnedication that can help with that, but you need to get to the doctor to have one prescribed.

What happens if you don't pluck your hair? Do you feel anxiety, or fear that something might happen? You should go see your doctor or a psychiatrist.
