It interferes with the pilot radio system.

Try this:
1. Turn on a radio
2. Put it on a low-medium volume
3. Make a cell phone call, and put the cell phone right next to the radio

The feedback you will hear is what the pilot will hear in his/her radio if you are using a cell phone on a plane.

There is a possibility the signals from cell phones interfere with the radios and navigation equipment of airlines.

Now, Mythbusters actually tested this (albeit in a working private jet that was safely on the ground, as the FAA would not let them test it in the air), and found that, with the phones they tested, it didn't really affect it. However, that plane was not in the air, and as the specialist they interviewed pointed out, with all the advances being made with cell phone technology, it's certainly possible some of them do (they only tested like, 3 phones, one at a time), and it would be simply impossible to test all phones that are issued for interference. And again, they only tested one phone at a time. I'm sure many phones going at once would not be optimal for the plane's instruments either.

On a personal level, it's bad enough being stuck in such a confined space, especially if there happens to be a crying baby or loud kids on board. It would be a thousand times worse if half the plane's passengers were yapping away on their cell phones, don't you think? :P

the reply to the question is because of the fact passengers are required to realize this by federal regulation. interior the U. S. and different countries, passengers are prohibited from making use of cellular telephones at any time between the time the door closes and the time that the airplane lands and is off the runway. (some airlines will enable you to apply your telephone while the airplane lands, mutually as others will require you to attend till the airplane has reached the gate.) the respond that others have given -- because of the fact it may reason interference with the airplane's indicators -- is one that is debated frequently. even even with the indisputable fact that that replaced into noted as between the justifications why the federal regulation replaced into positioned into place, despite if it is surely the case is in lots of situations a undertaking it is puzzled and debated. what isn't arguable, even with the indisputable fact that, is that at the instant, it is not allowed because of the fact the government says it is not allowed.

my dad is a pilot and he said the signal coming from your phone interfeiers with the black bow the thing that records everything that happens on the plane. If it interfiers the black box will crash and if the plane has a crash the people will never no why because the black box froze/crash.
