People of various religions have gone to their religious leaders and teachers to ask why there is so much suffering. Often, the response is that suffering is God’s will and that he long ago determined everything that would ever happen, including tragic events. Many are told that God’s ways are mysterious or that he brings death upon people—even children—so that he can have them in heaven with him. As you have learned, though, Jehovah God never causes what is bad. The Bible says: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!”—Job 34:10.

Do you know why people make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world? In many cases, they blame Almighty God because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. They do not know a simple but important truth that the Bible teaches. The real ruler of this world is Satan the Devil. The Bible clearly states: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) When you think about it, does that not make sense? This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.

A second reason why there is so much suffering is that, mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9)

A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Because WE are responsible for what happens in this world, NOT God.

That old argument about 'how can a good and loving god allow...' is just more fuel on a really negative and useless fire. Whether or not you believe in the existence of God as a being or as a force of energy or whatever, we people that live and share the earth (and I include animals, plants, rocks, etc.) are responsible for what happens here. If things are messed up and there is pain and misery all over, I think it's time for US to get going and stop waiting for someone else to come and solve our problems.

Dear elkazar,

Yes, there is a God. However, why do people blame God for all the agony in the world? It is man that hates, rapes, mocks, lies, steals, kills, etc. "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shal make you free."

This is a part of a talk given by one of our church authorities a few years ago, when asked something similar.

Some seek to brush aside conscience, refusing to hear its voice. But that deflection is, in itself, an act of choice, because we so desired.

Like it or not, therefore, reality requires that we acknowledge our responsibility for our desires. It is up to us.

God will facilitate, but He will not force.

What we are speaking about is so much more than merely deflecting temptations for which we somehow do not feel responsible. Remember, brothers and sisters, it is our own desires which determine the sizing and the attractiveness of various temptations. We set our own thermostats as to temptations.

Basicaly he is stating that the people are responsible for their OWN actions, and need to start TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM.

Because Adam and Eve sinned and their punishment falls thru the generations. The world became an "un-perfect" place with their sin. We have the knowledge of good and evil. One cannot exist without the other. No heaven w/o hell, no God w/o the devil. We sin and deserve death, but are saved thru Christ's death. Yet one cannot expect bad things to never happen to them even if they are believers.

That is a compound question.

The question is "Does God exist?"

Then if so, "Why does he allow so much agony in the world?"

That's a common mistake people (mainly atheists) make.

There is good and evil in the world--God never promised a world without suffering---that's what heaven is for---if we trust God through all things, even the trials and tribulations, then it will only make us depend on Him more.

Because humans suck! It is not just/merciful/fair for God to control everyone's actions. Do you want him to control every aspect of your life? I bet your answer is no, therefore, humans do as they please in this life and get their reward in the next.
2 Chr. 15: 7 ". . . your work shall be rewarded." Both good and bad.
