What's the difference between stout, ale, porter, lager, pilsner, and the other types of beer?

All beers were once called ales. It is the difference in yeasts, ingredients, and temperatures that separate them for the most part.

For example: Lager uses a different strain of yeast and is fermented at colder temperatures than an ale. Lager yeast ferments on the bottom, while that of ale ferments on the top.

Porter is made by roasting the barley before brewing. Stout is, as its name suggests, a hardy beer. Its malts are pre-roasted like a porters, but much more. A stout is almost black. It is a very robust beer. Guiness is a stout.

Scottish ales are usually heavy on the malt.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about pilsners. I thouht they were pale lagers named for the German region from which they come.

Ales and lagers use different kinds of yeast; lagers use a bottom-fermenting yeast that gives a clean flavor, ales a top-ferminting variety, which provides more robust flavor. Stouts and porters are similar, both using roasted malts or barley that produce a dark color and a flavors that are often somewhat like coffee or chocolate. Pilsners are specific kinds of lagers, usually with a more pronounced hop flavor. Hefewizens are wheat beers, IPAs (India pale ales) were developed with higher alcohol and hop content to resist spoilage on the ship journey from England to India.

I got ten minutes to "vacate the building" so I can't break down the chemistry in that time for your question but if that is you in your photo, then I think you're attractive.
Very nice.
Let me guess, American and across the pond, right?

type of yeast....top or bottom fermenting process.Lager ferments at a lower temp.

Lager sucks....ALE is yummy!

Ales have a higher alcohol content too.

Lagers can be smelly(actually stink)...IMO.
