I am going on vacation with a small child and I need to bring a hot plate and small skillet. I have put it in my suitcase to be checked. It is new in the box. Will they take it out of my bag? Has anyone travel with a hot plate?

You should be OK since there are no outlets on the plane to get it hot. However, you can check the following sites for additional information: http://www.tsa.gov/

You should be fine traveling with those items. I would suggest before you travel if you are concerned about any of the items in your luggage that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of items allowed in both your checked and carry on luggage.

Hope this helps and have a great flight!

they prob. will. you shouldn't worry about it if you have nothing to hide. inform the person who checks in yourself and the hot plate and skillet or what you are carrying and why.

If it is still in its packaging, you will be allowed to carry it on, as long as it can be in either one of your 2 allowed carry-on bags, that is your purse and one personal bag.
