Heres the scoop (backround history first) I have wanted a puppy dog ever since i was like 4 ! I love them all my family has one and I love to be with them. Recently my immidiate family(mom ,...ect) went to visit my cousins house for christmas holiday . we left a couple days ago.. I talk to my mother and she said that today they got a dog.
Of course its their dog. I guess im happy for them...... But they waited untill after we left to get the puppy! my mom said " well they didnt want to get the dog while you were there , so you wouldnt cry about leaving , and so you would be to attached , since they figured you wouldnt get one for chrsitmas "...."
At this point i felt pretty mad... i had all these thoughts , : " is it bad that i love dogs??" " So in order for me to not get attached are they not going to invite us over or hide him in a kennel so i dont become attached!?!?" Should i Be mad about this .. or did they plan this thinking it would do some "good" to us?Thanksall!

and it now makes me mad that NOW after 6 dogs in the familiy and me wanting one since age 4 my mom desides NOW i can get one! after my cousin has already had 2! .......im just soo mad!..... should i be mad about this.... or did she really wait for the right time..... b/c now i dont think its the right time it was when we lived in a big house with a backyard....now not so much!

Your family was trying ot save you some heartbreak.
I think you should forget about getting a dog and concentrate on school. What would you do with your dog once you go off to college anyways?
Once you're an adult you can make your own decisions.
I grew up around horses, all my nieghbors had them. My yard was surrounded on 3 sides by pastures. I couldn't have one though. So I babysat and cleaned stalls to be able to ride other people's horses. I coulndn't get my own until I was 27.
I would see if you could walk the neighbor's dogs or volunteer at a local shelter until you are an adult in your own life and home.
ADDED...notice all the thumbs down? APparently someone isn't getting the answers they wanted. Sad.

First off a responsible family getting a new dog should never get one near the holidays..it is a hectic, unscheduled time of year. It is always better to wait at least a week or two after the holiday season to settle back into a routine to be able to offer this to the new dog.
Secondly, you didn't state how old you were except that you've wanted a dog since you were 4...well however old you are...GROW UP!! If you're not allowed to have a dog too bad, grow older, get your own place, and than get a dog..stop your whining because others around you have dogs.

Maybe your mom feels that now you are mature enough to look after a dog. Even if you love them, they are still a lot of work. If you are getting your dog, what is there to be mad about?
By the way, I waited 30 years before I finally got my first Great Dane.

Chill Out - You will get a dog and everything will be fine.
You should focus your energy on looking into the breed of dog you want and learn about it. Find out about it's exercise requirements, it's dietry needs, what it was originally bred for etc.
You are taking this far to personally -
It's a dog eat dog world out there!

never hit a dog in anger but it is ok to show the dog you mean what you say and if he does it agian make a punishment

i would appreciate their suggestion cuz if u did love it so much they would give it to u and they would be sad and mad and your mom probably didnt want anymore dogs anyway so it turned out for the best but youll probably get to spend time with it if you get one so dont be mad.

oh this is your big concern ... make up your mind do you want a puppy or not ... and why be mad it's not the end of the world ... being mad over this is just a big waste of time !!!

well... yea... you should not be mad your parents make the decisions when you are 4 not you.... get your own dog I guess.. maybe they want a companion since you are older.
