Actually, your premise is untrue. Mormons have room for other civilisztions. So do some Christian denominations.
As for me, my religios beliefs would not be threatened at all. If life is able to exist on Earth, then it stands to reason that life would exist on other planets with suitable atmospheres. In fact, there is nothing to say that a planet must be atmospherically similar to Earth... might it not be possible for different sorts of planets to give rise to different sorts of life?

I don't know of any major religion that makes any claims about extraterrestrial life one way or the other. Discovery of life elsewhere doesn't change what happened on this planet in the slightest. Jesus still came and died for my sins. How would that fact be affected by the fact that other beings exist in another galaxy??

No. My religious beliefs would not be harmed as I have very little creation theology. Basically - the first sentence of the Nicene Creed sums it up: I believe in God the Father the almighty maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. So aliens would fit rather nicely as they are part of "heaven" and are at the moment "unseen".

I believe all our known religions have a touch of the alien about them. I mean are we really that blinkered to think with all that endless space out there, there is only us wasters? Mind you, if I was a passing visitor from another galaxy I'd give us lot a wide berth too.

The aliens would probably be Mining Cargo Vessels from Planet H (Heaven). They would probably be mining anti-matter; the most powerful source of energy in the Universe, rare but very expensive.
So, the answer is no. My religion is based on God being a loving scientist from Planet H.
(Evolution, given enough time, eventually leads to eternal life.)

Actually I have discussed this with my parents. In no way does the Word leave out life elsewhere, the finding of life other than on earth would have no effect on my beliefs.

I would have no problem with it what so ever in my beliefs. My belief is simple........there is life and there is energy. If life is possible here it is possible somewhere else. The energy (God) goes by whatever name you are comfortable with and whatever level you are at, on whatever planet you live on in what ever form you are. so you see finding life somewhere else would be no surprise to me and would not affect my beliefs whatsoever :-) The only thing in my opinion that is important is that we live our life in a way that will enrich all that follow us.

Nope. I'm an Atheist. I'll be laughing for days while watching religious people try to explain how extra-terrestrial life fits into their holy books.

Since God created the universe, everything in it is His creation. Anyone who might be out there, might have a better relationship with Him than we do.
Maybe they never rebelled against Him like mankind did. If they did, then they need His forgiveness, too.
