Sin is tough. Especially because everyone has different beliefs/religion. Factually, however, I do think it is clear that at some point you are destroying a life (whether you want to call that murder or not is just semantics). Sin is a religious word, so you would have to look at the varying religions. Outside of religion, and medically, it can be determined, at least so I think, but everyone will come up with there own definition, most often to justify their beliefs. At one point life was determined based on when the baby could live outside the womb, but that time is shrinking rapidly with medical advancement. What it comes down to is that it is a personal matter. Me, yeah I think it probaby is, but not the Plan B pill, because "life" has not yet been formed.

Undoubtedly.
If the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life, Job 33/4, when did that start ?
For thou hast formed my reins, thou hast knit me together in my mother's womb, Psalm 139/13
It defies nature, logic and God that life starts after conception.
That Christ was conceived by the operation of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 1/20 & Luke 1/31, how can it be imagined that He was not alive ?
If then he was alive from the moment of conception, and He was a partaker of flesh and blood the same as us, Hebrews 2/14, then so are we all.
Job also talks of the death of a child or infant in the womb as a living person who yet does not see the troubles of this life, chapter 3.
Abortion is the deliberate killing of a person in the womb. If it is murder then it is a serious sin.

Whether it is a sin, or not, is not the issue, as you will find those who think it is, and those who think it is not.
The issue is that the state has no rights to say a woman cannot have an abortion. This is pushing the religious beliefs of one group onto another. This is not what our government was based upon...separation of state and church.
Also, ban abortions, and you are back to women having unsafe procedures in back rooms, with often devastating results. The abortions will not stop.

The supreme court of the USA may have said that abortion is not murder, but I know the one who is higher than the supreme court-- and He is the Supreme Lord, who created that baby that abortion kills. The supreme court may think they have the final say in what is right and wrong, but God has the ultimate victory. He allows abortion now, even though it saddens His heart to see mother's taking the life of their children, because they do not chose to be a parent. Let me say it this way- if that same woman was stabbed in the stomach and the baby died,it would murder
so how can you say that abortion is not murder, when it takes the life of that same child. Yes abortion is a sin.

This is a difficult moral issue that confronts Christians and all people of the day. My own two cents - Abortion is not the ideal. Ideally women should be having their children and raising them to be good responsible human beings. However, being that we live in a world that is never ideal, they must occur for various circumstances: for the health of the mother, rape, incest, or simply the inability to raise a child. I believe it is wrong, but I understand that sometimes it's a necessary thing. Instead of illegalizing and criminalizing it we should try to attack the root causes of the need for abortions.

I think abortrtion can be morally wrong, but not a sin. It's a matter of circumstance. It's wrong to abort if you were the one who didn't use some kind of protection, but for a woman who was raped or sexually abused they shouldn't have to carry that child either.

No. I think that a lack of compassion on the victims of incest and rape is a sin. I think the lack of compassion on parents that will have a seriously deformed child and compassion upon that child are a sin. I do not, however, think that abortion should be used as a method of birth control, that is wrong.

No, at least not in the Bible. One of the most common arguments against abortion comes from the Ten Commandments, where we are told "Thou Shalt Not Kill." But this begs the question of "kill what?" Does this commandment mean we cannot kill anything, even a fly? No. It means we should not kill another human being. Of course, the Fundamentalist believes a pre-born fetus is the same as a full-term human being. God, however, does not. In Exodus 21:22-25 we read that if a man accidentally kills a pregnant woman, that man should be condemned for committing murder. However, if he only kills the fetus - that is, if she miscarries - he is not condemned for murder. Clearly, then, God does not consider the pre-born fetus as being the same as a human being, in which case the Commandment of "Thou Shalt Not Kill (a human)" does not apply.

Yes, every abortion kills an innocent human being. Killing innocent human beings is sin. For Biblical perspectives on abortion, see:

If you believe that God is the Giver of all Life, then you can't condone abortion or, for that matter, capital punishment. But, to say it's a sin is implying that all people have a Judeo-Christian-Muslim fundamental view of the world. As a "liberal Christian", I have a difficult time understanding the concept of sin.
