I know VISA and maybe other credit cards have this protection, I'm not sure why people continue to pay for them. Maybe they don't know about it, maybe its different. Also if you have a DEBIT card with a VISA logo will that give you the same coverage? anyone can shed light on this topic will be very much appreciated!

Most credit card policies cover the damage deductible waiver clause of your rental agreement. Few cover loss-of-use, and I have only heard of one that covers liability. Find and read the NEWEST booklet for your card. All Visa and Mastercard issuers reserve the right to change the terms as well as the company underwriting the coverages.

Not all VISA cards have the same protection. Read your credit card agreement. Oh, you threw it away the minute you got the card in the mail? You can probably get a copy on line. Look on the card or your monthly statement for your issuer's e-mail address. Make sure you look up the agreement for the exact type of card you have.
