Yes Gay and lesbians showing affection in front of my child in public bothers me. BUT, heterosexuals going overboard with affection in front of my child bothers me as well.
Depending on the age of the child, they are unable to understand any romantic affection. Their brains are still simple enough relationship wise that they only usually understand affection in the sense of family, motherly, brotherly, etc.

I don't like it when straight or gays hit on each other in public. It shows a lack of maturity and good common sense, It also shows no respect for one's partner.... that partner appears to be nothing but a piece of meat. This is a power thing that people with no social class exhibit. My straight and gay friends would never display this kind of behavior in public. They have a better upbringing and social status. I know this sounds snobby, and maybe it is, but affection should be kept behind closed doors.

I think sucking face and slurping like dogs in heat along with all out groping is inappropriate - no matter who it is!
Simple displays of affection are fine with me - no matter who it is!
I don't think that sexual preference should have anything to do with it. If you don't want that in front of your children then take them home or else be a good parent and explain to them in non-judgemental terms what they are seeing.
If they're old enough to understand same sex affection, then they are old enough to make a decision on what they think about it. Just because you have a problem with modern times, doesn't give you the right to pass it on to your kids.
By the way, to the person who said "it's not morals, it's ettiquette", what the heck difference would it make??

Why not, you can only shelter your children from REALITY for so long. They will one point in their lives see that homosexuality exists & ALWAYS will. CIVAL public affection is proper from ANY sex but when escalated to sexual advances then this is not acceptable FROM ANY SEX (sheer respect). People are people & NO ONE has a right to judge anybody for ANYTHING & for the religious folk out there that dissapprove, if you have read your bible then you should KNOW that YOU ARE NOT HERE TO JUDGE!!
If homosexuality is wrong then let GOD take care of the offenders when the proper time comes. We as humans are put here to teach, learn & abide what we believe in NOT JUDGE!!
No human has the right to pass judgement & play the role as GOD! We are all HUMAN, we all choose our self identities just because you do not approve does not make it wrong.

Define affection. Holding hands, hugging or a quick kiss doesn't bother me at all - whether it's hetero or homosexual. It's a wonderful opportunity to teach children that all kinds of people live in the world, and some of them are different from us, and that's okay.
Any PDA beyond hand holding, hugging or a quick kiss is wholly and utterly inappropriate regardless of who is engaging in the activity. Period.

I don't want to see ANYONE making out in public. I don't care who they are, it's rude. But simple affection? I think it's great when couples hold hands or hug in public. It's good for children to see healthy affection.

It bothers me even more when straight couples do the same type of affection in public, plus all the media and advertising try to ram the straight lifestyle down my throat, and then bigots like you come on here and ask such an ignorant and hate-filled question.

Why should it bother me? They allow fat ugly people and skanky people to show affection in public so why shouldn't gays and lesbians be allowed to? It wouldn't bother me at all, as long as it is done respectfully and decently. Watching anyone jab their tongue down someone else's throat in public is disrespectful...doesn't matter whether they are gay or not.

Doesn't bother me at all. Same thing with all people, I don't want them to have sex in the middle of the mall or anything, but actually, I think it would be good for my child to see a gay or lesbian couple holding hands or something similar. He needs to understand that love comes in all forms and is always a beautiful thing.

I don't like seeing any overt PDAs. I don't care if it's gay or straight. Holding hands or pecks on the cheek or lips is fine by me for any couple. But I don't want to see couples doing things they should be doing privately. Maybe I'm a prude.
As far as kids, they need to understand what "homosexual" means. Kids need to know and not be kept in a bubble.
