Put it in an airtight container with one or two slices of bread over night. The sugar will take the moisture from the bread, and the next day it should be soft.

Always leave a slice of bread in your brown sugar, but make sure to check that it doesn't go mouldy.

You can also buy a pottery looking disk that is specifically made for keeping brown sugar soft.

Hope that helps!!

put it in the microwave (some folks use a sliced apple) for a few seconds at a time, pressing to see when it softens.

Store it airtight with a slice of bread to keep it soft. It will draw moisture from the bread.

I keep mine in a glass jar with cling wrap over the opening and then I put the lid on. As long as it is in an airtight container it should be ok. If it turns hard, put crackers in the jar with it, they will absorb the moisture. Don't mash them up,put them in whole. You might have to change out the crackers as they will turn soft.

Turn-on the oven, and put the brown sugar on-top of the stove for a few mins. The indirect heat from the oven will warm the sugar, and make it softer.
