He looked great against Tarver and the two bouts with Jermain could've been easily viewed as wins for Bernard. He sounds great in interviews (not like Holyfield does now) so I think he hasn't been affected adversely by the wear and tear of his long career. I'd say that he should get boxing "out of his system" in 2007 by fighting Maskaev or Calzaghe. He can beat either man.

As for the "attacking" style answer posted by Ric, aren't you confident enough in your own response that you don't feel the need to attack other responders?? No?? If I was you I wouldn't be confident either. What is wrong with Tyson's answer?? Bernard HASN'T fought outside of Middleweight in over a decade. Are you aware of some info that the rest of the world wasn't privileged too?? And although his 6th fight was first one for him at Middle, the 4 prior to it and the next few after it were at SuperMiddle. So, what's your point?? Or did you have a point at all before you started ripping into other people's responses.

I bet George Foreman is glad he didn't have you around him for words of encouragement or inspiration when he regained the Heavyweight Title at the age of 45.

OK, first off to "Tyson", how do you figure? It's common knowledge Bernard started at lt. heavy. Lost his very first fight then fought a few more before hitting middleweight. His 6th fight was his 1st mid'weight fight. To Saxaphone, I find it hard to believe he'll be 43 this month when the poor guy is only 41 as we speak. And to my answer, he needs to stop NOW! He hasn't ever been beaten up as it is, sure, he has come up short a few times, but never "beaten up". Think about Holyfield, when he beat Tyson a second time (not to mention the first) he was 34 in 1997, everyone thought Holyfield was pretty bad ***. He goes on to rematch and unify with Moorer, then wins against Vaughn Bean, less than 15 months after Tyson. He could have walked away right there. Because after that he compiled a 2-5-2 (and one of those was again Rahman, or as I call him, Lumpy) until his "come back". Point is, EVERYONE gets older. And just because you have a big night (for Holyfield, Tyson, for Hopkins, Tarver) does NOT mean you can keep pulling the rabbit out of the hat. ESPECIALLY stepping up to the heavies. There are too many people who stayed in the game too long and got their heads ruined. I don't want to see that happen to Bernie, I hope he changes his mind and steps back into retirement. This will NOT have a good ending if he continues... remember I said this.

Bernard Hopkins will continue to fight until he gets beat up and loses.. hasnt happened and probably wont anytime soon. I would guess that 07 will be his last year just because there simply will be no one worth fighting after his next 2 or three fights. Hopkins and Mayweather will be a possibility after Mayweather beats up on De La Hoya and makes him retire

He totally dominated Antonio Tarver in his last fight, which was his first fight outside of the Middleweight division in over a decade. He is trying to negotiate a fight with Maskaev for Maskaev's portion of the Heavyweight Title. However, if that doesn't come to bear, he also has the possibility of a fight with Calzaghe at Super Middle and if that doesn't develop Tarver is asking him for a rematch. He'll be 42yo this month, but he is in great shape and I think he could beat any of the guys I mentioned, especially Maskaev.

It is hard to say. He promised his mom he would stop at 40. He is still healthy and sound. He had a great career made money and became a legend. He doesn't have anything to prove. I would probably say retire. Still he could maybe beat a heavyweight title holder and that would look great on his HOF biography. Plus maybe like Balboa it is just something he has in him and needs to do lol.

Even at 42 years old he is still one heck of a fighter. However this can't last forever so I believe maybe one more good fight and then he should really call it quits and make his Momma happy.
