I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.0 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. It has 54,000 miles on it. I am having trouble with the clutch and the mechanic that I use is telling me I need to replace the clutch. Is this common for the clutch to go up after 54,000 miles? How long should a clutch last?

There really is no right answer as clutch life is dependent on too many things...how is it driven, towing, highway vs. stop n go, etc. I've had clutches last 300k but if I tried I'm sure I could burn one out in a couple minutes. That said an average jeep clutch should last at least 100k if not abused.

I have a 2001 Wrangler Sport with the 4.0 and a 5 speed manual tranny. I have over 112,000 miles on the original clutch. I think it all depends on how the vehicle was/is driven.

Well in my 99 Integra GS-R, my stock clutch lasted till 150k ( when it had a catastrophic failure at the drag strip ). But if you are easy on your clutch, rev match instead of letting the clutch pull the motor up to speed on your down shifts and keep the burnouts to a minimum, 100k isn't unheard of for most non-industrial or heavy duty apps. Do you shift alot? lots of city driving? Lil off roading? 60k for a clutch seems like a short life span.

I had 1982 Jeep, replaced its clutch a month ago, could be the reason of mileage as mine was driven only 9K KM. They have fitted Toyota Paradoz clutch in it which is more reliable

Depends on your driving habbits. Typically given the best driving conditions and no resting foot on clutch pedal while driving, no racing, and no offroad use, the clutch should last around 100,000 miles give or take a couple thousand.

It really depends on how you drive it. If you ride the clutch alot, it will go out sooner.
I had a dodge neon that was a 5-spd and the clutch on that lasted for 78,000 miles.
