I dont know much about lenses and I'm confused further when I read about them. Can someone give me the straight skinny in simple terms about which lenses I need. I'll be shooting the normal stuff-sports, landscapes, people, models. Thank You!!

A good lens will set you back quite a bit. Check out the lens review pages, which might help you decide.

I am having the same trouble trying to find a good lens to start with. Am liking the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM (it covers a good focal range).
For wide angle the EF-S 10-22mm would be my pick.
You just need to decide what focal range you will be happy to start with...and what price you want to pay. Good luck with your choice
Anyway, check the links below for ideas and reviews...

I have 2 Canon A2Es. On 1 of them I have a Tamron 28-200mm zoom, on the other I have a Tamron 28-300 zoom. I am very pleased with both, but I prefer the 28-300mm. It covers a very large range from wide angle to telephoto. I'm a forensic photographer now, but I've shot weddings, football, baseball, and several other subjects with them with great results. Whatever lens you get, be sure to get a UV filter for it. It won't change the photo, but it will protect the lens. Good luck.
