I have had the flu since about last Thursday. I had body aches, a sinus infection, a fever, chills, a cough, and I couldn't eat. Right now I just have a really bad cough and headaches, and I am wondering if I go to the doctor..will it be a waste of time/money since everyone has told me already the exact same things to do?

So it is true that the flu is one of those things that just takes patience and time?
What about sinus infections?

By what you have indicated, although you still feel unwell, you are improving. This suggests to me that whether it is the flue or not, you are on the mend. I would generally recommend going to the doctor if there is little or no change over 3 to 4 days (and of course, if things are getting progressively worse in that timespan!) or if there is a persistent fever. As you probably know, very little can be done for most viruses, but no improvement indicates a possible bacteria, which would require anti-biotics.

To get a prescription for their flu...most people want relief; however, without medication it takes about the same duration to recover--it's just a little more painful.

Unless "everybody" are doctors, they can't tell you if you've actually got an infection, the extent of it, nor can they write you a prescription to get rid of it.

You've got recurring fever? Better see the doc. You may need antibiotics.
