In the Bible, Genesis 1 v. 27; "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them", Genesis 1 v 31; "God saw all that he had made, and it was "Very Good"", But let me say, We as humans, and specifically "Americans", with our puritanical opinions, and beliefs, seem to stigmatize the idea, that our Bodies are Beautiful, We act as if to see, look at, or observe anothers body is in some how, going to have a traumatic affect on Our Mental State, are We so fragile. Natives in the Amazon, run around completely nake, and there is not the Violence, Hostility, or Criminal behaviors. Why is the Intimacy of nudity made to appear, "WRONG".

There were mention of Isaiah, so I wished to add this to my Question. Isaiah 20V2;
"At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.", this was to show Israel that they would be taken captive to another land. But "Yes" here we have a commandment of God to observe a lesson, but they Religious Right, would say that "Nudity", is wrong. I personally think "NUDITY" is the most intimate action, a person can commit, though our society is fearful of all intimacy.

My point is not that Man or Woman has sinned, and fallen from Holiness, or grace, It is that "GOD" himself, created us in his Image and said it was "VERY GOOD". Why then is finite Man saying what is GOOD.

I used to be all in favor of nudity until I turned 50. Now I'm all in favor of body armor.

Because marketing has placed such a high demand on beauty, 80% of the population would never be able to reach it.
Beauty has become such a standard that it makes people feel inadequate if they do not have the right clothes, deodorant, hair color, or even drink the right pop.
The intimacy is not wrong, it is just the way people are exposed to it.
Funny you mentioned the Amazon as my wife and I were in Panama there were topless natives selling their works and a couple from North Carolina were completely disgusted at the way they were dressed.
I wish I knew what the natives were thinking.

Yes, God created Adam and Eve and they were naked and walked in total holiness and innocence in the Garden of Eden.

However, you need to read the entire passage of scripture in "context". Put it all together, because Adam and Eve fall into sin not long after what you quoted and the scripture in Genesis says that after they sinned and ate the fruit from the tree, "they saw each other and realized they were naked."

When the Lord casts them out of the Garden He take the skins from an animal and has them "cover themselves".

Everyone born after Adam and Eve are born into sin and it has been well proven and documented down through the ages that we are not innocent or holy now. We don't handle nakedness very well which has led to the prostituting and pronography that we have so prevalent in our society.

I see what you mean about many of the tribes in South America or even in Africa. They don't cover themselves very well and some do still walk around naked.

The best explanantion I can give is that they do not live in a society where the skin is exploited and sold for pleasure as we do here in our western world. I see still a sense of "innocence" somehow in their cultures and societies that we do not have much anymore here.

When the Lord returns and makes things new again as recorded for us in the Book of Revelation, "...He will make a new heaven and a new earth." The Lord will in a sense cleanse the sin problem forever and restore things to their former order.

Will we walk around naked then? I don't know. But things will be better than they are now in this world.

Hope that helps some

If our society started off from day one being nudest, then it would not be wrong, but after Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden, they seen their nudity and covered thenselves. Natives in the Amazon, think nothing of nudity, because it has been like that for generations, but their men cover the lower half. Then again some tribes used to be headhunters!

Control. The actual practice of Christianity has been morphed throughout the ages by greedy kings, power hungry tyrants and manipulative religious figures to gain control over others.

In Christianity, which I safely assume, from your Biblical refrence, you are addressing, such people have morphed Christianity to make people feel that their mere existence is a sin, that would be symbolically underlined by your nudity, who you truly are without any lies or illusions.

Western culture makes nudity a taboo to make us feel as if we are inferior and full of sin. That way we will be asking for forgiveness and then easy to be controlled by such figures previously mentioned.

You know I have been asking myself the same question for so long and I think the answer to it is: because of Society and the values that certain societies value.I do think the Church may have some say regarding the matter but I think it's really a societal choice

Good old puritan morality. You must remember the evangelical Churches that settled America fled persecution, but were of Quaker and Puritan stock, people for whom sexuality was taboo and shameful. They brought this culture with them to the new world. That's why Europe is still very much more liberal with regards to sexuality today.

The ancient Greeks believed Eros was a wild boy who flew about on golden wings shooting arrows and setting hearts ablaze. The uncontrolled sexual passions could be disturbing to ordered society

There is nothing intimate about public nudity.

And concerning the natives in the Amazon...tribal wars and cannibalism are known to exist there. Now there are some values definitely missing from civilized culture.
