I'd say more obvious than subtle. From a guys standpoint, women are too mysterious and we will never really understand you. We really love you, but we'll never understand you.
If you are too subtle about it, the guy can get confused and ponder over the the whole "mixed signals" concept.
Was she joking?
Does that mean she likes me?
Is she just being friendly?
She was just playfully flirting, right?
I'm not sure how to respond to what she said....
Keep it simple and clear.

Use both. First flirt a lot and be subtle so that you might attract the guy. And then tell him that you like him. Just don't flirt for too long without telling him.

if a guy is interested in you ,you will know try reading the book he is just not into you . that book helped me alot with these types of crush. Protect your heart. If he knows you and wanted you trust me you would know

i am a girl and i have always been direct with guys and have done the first move. i have always had good results. good luck.
