It really is impossible to say!
The type of cancer, the age of the man, family or not, whether he knows himself that he is dying, and whether he is hospitalised will all make a difference. The elderly are more likely to lose the will to fight especially if the cancer is very painful, but in care work we see lots of cases that defy the odds! You cant even predict which patients it will be that do! A Doctor will be able to tell you roughly how long they expect him to have but that's all!
Best advice is try not to worry about when and enjoy the time he does have left.

My boyfriends father was diagnosed with cancer in 1989 and the family was told he was not expected to last the night. He survived another 6 years. My uncle was diagnosed in June 2006 with throat cancer but within 6 months it had spread throughout his entire body and he passed away on the 3rd December. Only the doctors will be able to give an answer to this but whatever time is left is precious and better to give him some happy memories in his remaining time than showing you are worrying.

It really depends on a number of factors. I had an uncle who died of pancreatic cancer about two years ago. He went to the doctor for a check up and was told he had two months to live, he lived for four additional months. So no one really knows in these moments. So just live life, but be prepared for them to go at any time.

you dont. It all depends on the persons body and the cancer. My mate passed away from cancer a few years ago. Its tough to come to terms with but it gets easier. The best thing for him was that he didnt feel any pain and fell asleep on his favourite arm chair.

Impossible to know. My father in law was in the end stages of cancer but was determined to stay alive to see one of his grandchildren married. Although we daily thought this was his last day he lived on for about six months. He was taken to the wedding in a wheel chair and died peacefully whilst watching TV the very next day, his ambition fulfilled.

Please forgive me if this is irrelevant but I have heard of a herba; tincture that has been proven to help heal cancer & I thought you might be interested. Please go to this website & scroll down to "Jenny Boys-Herbalist"
This is an excellent organisation & you might also contact them for alternative therapies for cancer.
PS> I am not in anyway associated with them nor am I advertsing, I am just trying to help!
with luv
