If you carry a weapon or engage in anything "warlike" no you are not protected, not that anybody who we're pissing off right now even follows the Geneva Conventions. The only people, according to the GC, who are protected are people who are religious ministers of some sort or medical personnel, etc., BUT the minute one picks up a weapon... ALL bets are off.
