OK, I just asked if Limewire was illegal, but it doesn't make sence. How is it not illegal if you're not paying for it?

The program itself isn't illegal to get because it is released under the GNU Public license. It's open source. Which means anyone can use it, modify it, even sell it. The things you download off of other peers can be legal if they own the rights or created it. It's illegal if, for example, its an MP3 that they do not own the copyright for, which is illegal.

You can get very legal files off of LimeWire. It is also a way to share your own material with others. If you download or share copyrighted material, then it becomes illegal.
