I just bought a Samsung SIR-TS360 DirecTV HD receiver to use to get "over the air" (OTR) HD broadcasts of local stations. It says it will work as a tuner for OTR signals. I currently do not have DirecTV service as I do not want the DirecTV channels, just the OTR stations. Will this work without DirecTV service? Has anyone done this before? Please include instructions if possible.
Thanks in advance!

I've not used this particular satellite/off-the-air tuner but use one from Zenith, and I receive OTA signals without satellite service. You will need an antenna and one on your roof will work best. Simply connect the antenna to the antenna input on your Samsung receiver, then step it though the initial channel receive setup in the receiver's menu.

OTA HD is the most amazing secret about HDTV... everyone thinks you have to pay for it when it is actually free. I've been watching OTA HD at home for nearly three years now.

i'm specific you could renew, yet you probable can't get specific pricing. My settlement became over and that i became questioning approximately shifting to dish community. I talked approximately as DirecTV and enable them to be attentive to i became thinking this flow and asked if there became something they might do to decrease my bill (because of the fact I observed each and all of the "new specials"). They suggested the only element they might do became decrease my provider equipment. Hmmm. So, I have been given a settlement with Dish community and talked approximately as to cancel my DirecTV. as quickly as I talked approximately as to cancel, hastily they desperate they can provide me a chit. I enable them to be attentive to that it became too overdue because of the fact I had already signed a settlement with Dish. it is why I talked approximately as them until now doing something. They ignored their risk.
