iv started using an eplilater...
for anyone not sure what it is; its a fast electronic way of tweezing hairs.
but am worrying that over time this will damage my skin.

has anyone had any bad experiences using it? and
Is there any sceinctific proof that repeated epilating has any damaging effects to skin?

Epilation does cause a measure of trauma to the skin. And it distorts the hair root as well so that when the hairs regrow, they may grow at strange angles. This is especially noticeable when a girl epilates or plucks or waxes or sugars or threads her moustache.

But most methods of removing hair cause trauma to the skin.

Chemical depilatories burn the skin and can cause discoloration.

Laser can burn the skin, scar the skin and cause discoloration.

Electrolysis can scar the skin very badly and cause discoloration.

Shaving is the only method which causes minimal damage to the skin and shaving with a men's-type electric razor can be damage free, as far as the skin is concerned.

as long as you exfoliate you ll be good! also, I didn t find it too painful but if you moisten your skin first (have a shower or bath) the pores will open and it won t hurt so much (also, having a shower first will clean the skin and reduce the chance of ingrown hairs).

It can't be any worse than shaving or waxing for your skin, so I wouldn't worry too much.

no, but it really hurts. try to keep away from the bikini line though because i know from experience that you can have problems with it.
