Chocolate is comprised of cocoa (the brown part), and the cocoa-butter (the fat). Cocoa is very good for you providing many beneficial components, including Flavanoids, a very potent antioxidant. The fat from the cocoa-butter is (the good) kind of fat that your body need some of. When taken in moderation, these alone provide many health benefits. The problem with chocolate is the sugars that often accompany it. Take in small doses and enjoy life. By the way dark chocolate is made from different ways of roasting the cocoa beans, while white chocolate contains no cocoa. So stay away from the white chocolate.

No, the more %cocoa the better, but it's really all about quantity. Sugars are only bad for you if you don't do enough activity to burn off the calories, fats are similar plus the fats in chocolate are not animal fats which are the worst. Everything in moderation (except sex - you can never get enough of that and it's only ever good for you unless you get a nasty smelly disease).

I have been telling people how overloading the blood stream with lots of unusable food causes osteoarthritis. I met a man I told this to who looked at me funny. turned white and said his father in law died of Arthritis, we buried him yesterday and every time I saw that man he had a sickers bar in his hand. if you feed a lot of chocolate to a greyhound dog it will kill it.It causes some people migraine headaches.I could write for a while about why people shouldn't eat a lot of chocolates. I read that dark natural chocolate is OK. but I don't really know.I do know that the kind of chocolate most people buy and eat in America is totally bad for you. but an occasional piece of chocolate wont hurt you.like most things. it only when you overdo is when you cause problems..Peace

Man, people here make chocoalte sound like crack cocaine, lol.
Like most sweets, there is nothing wrong with chocolate in moderation. Nothing at all. Especially considering what other garbage people eat these days.
Sidebar: did you know that chocolate contains trace amount of a chemical that causes your brain to release endorphins? You actually get a very minute high from it!

The darker the chocolate the better it is for you but even milk
chocolate is good for you too. Just be smart about how much you eat and make sure your diet is filled with lots of veggies, fruit
and protein as well as our beloved chocolate!!

Depends on the chocolate. Actually, there have been studies that a moderate amount of chocolate is actually healthy.

Everything is bad for you:-)
I knew someone who worked in a fish and chip shop, never ate them because she said they were bad for her, but lived on chocolate and claimed to be perfectly healthy! Go figure!

in large quantities yes, but chocolate has good properties aswell, particularly chocolate with high cocoa content, it also releases an endorphin in the brain which stimulates a happy mood.
