According to the National Sleep Foundation a 13 year old should get an optimal sleep period of 9 hours (45% do). 31% get 8 hours sleep which is not optimal, but sufficient.

So I guess the answer is Yes - since it is sufficient, but 9 hrs would be better.

I think you'll find that the answer to this question is highly personal. Are you asking this question for yourself? If so, I would think you would want to get sufficient sleep so that you can perform normally in a day without being tired.

If you're asking this question for someone else, I would ask "what do you mean by ENOUGH". If you're asking about a limit that you can impose long term without serious side effects -- 8 hours should do. I would be hesitant to limit someone else's sleep just because you don't feel comfortable with their need for sleep. If a child exceeds 9 hours, I would be checking with a doctor for a possible sleep disorder. I would also not let a child sleep in. If they need extra sleep, have them go to bed early.

8 - 10 is normal for that age because they are still growing and need that much.

If she is rested and alert and healthy then I would say yes. If she is sluggish, tired, sick, disoriented etc then maybe she needs more rest.
