My favorite saint is Saint Thomas. He is known as the doubter because he doubted that Jesus appeared to the disciples. But after touching the nail pierced hands of Jesus, he went on to reach 2 of the biggest nations on this earth.

India, where if you were to make a trip to Kerala, one could still see the churches that he planted. China, while enroute to go to Kerala, India, St Thomas met a Chinese Trader and told him the Gospel. The Chinese merchant believed and went on to Xian China and planted the first Chinese Church there. However according to some souces, he also brought the gospel to Latin America and personally went to China and Japan.

He was finally martyr by the indians, by being thrust through with a spear.

.... From a doubter to a martyr ...

Blessed Mary MacKillop, Australia's first saint, co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart in 1866.

The Catholic Church bestows the title Blessed on a person whose life has been proved to be extraordinarily holy. This permits the people to publicly honour the person beatified and to use a special Eucharistic liturgy and liturgical prayer. The public veneration is usually limited to a diocese, region or nation. In the case of Mary MacKillop it means that all Australians may publicly honour her. Beatification is not an infallible statement but it does assure a moral certainty that the person has lived a life of heroic virtue

Mary MacKillop is a Blessed person who dedicated her life in helping the poor and Aborigines in Australia and faced many trials

There are many, but a couple who stand out are:
St. Padre Pio, because he had such humility having received the stigmata. Also because he said what needed to be said to people who were searching for truth. He loved the Eucharist so much that he became transfixed when he said the words of consecration.

The other is St. Maria Goretti who at the young age of 11, was martyred by the hands of a young man of 19-20 years old who wanted to rape her. Instead of giving in, she said "NO it is a sin and I don't want you to go to hell." She was thinking of his soul at 11 years of age rather than of herself.

She forgave her attacker, Alessandro, and prayed for his conversion even though she was dying, because of the stab wounds given by her attacker. He did convert later and sought the forgiveness of Maria's mother. He spent the rest of his life working at a Capuchin (Franciscan order) monastary.

Saint Peter.

Anyone who can mess up by denying Jesus three times, be forgiven, and go on to lead the early church is alright with me.

With love in Christ.
