My SD card dosn't say what speed it is on the label, so i was wondering if I could plug it into my computer and calculate it somehow.

The benchmark of 1X is a transfer rate of 150 KB per second.

The lowest speed that I have actually seen for sale is a 4X card. This is dog slow. Any card up in the 40X or so range would generally be labeled withthe card speed, so if there is no designation, it could be 4, 12, 20... Who knows? I've checked the Sandisk site to see what the unlabeled cards are and they dont' even tell you.

40X is a common card, so the transfer rate would be 6 MB per second.

Sandisk Ultra II claims a minimum write speed of 60X or 9 MB per second, and a minimum read speed of 66X or 10 MB per second.

Sandisk Extreme III claims a minimum write and read speed of 133X or 20 MB per second.

Lexar is another excellent card supplier and they have the "Professional" 133X as well as the Platinum 80X to choose from. They make slower cards and put the speed right on the card, the last I knew...

go online to the company that made your sd website and you'll find it there.
