- build a fort with all the pillows in the house
- lay all the pillows end to end to make a train track and the two of you can be the trains, crawling around on the pillows
- build a tent with chairs/table and old sheets or blankets
- cover a plate with whipped cream and draw in it with fingers (can practice writing letters/numbers)
- let her play online at http://www.starfall.com
- let her help in the kitchen - practice measuring and counting while you cook
- helping with laundry gives lots of practice with math skill such as sorting, matching and measuring, one to one correspondence, etc.
- read to her
- go to the library, zoo, children's museum, park, etc.
- put on music and dance
- play games with rhyming words - you say "cat" and she answers with a rhyming word like "bat"
- look for letters and numbers while you are at the store - have her look for the letter her name starts with while you're shopping
- sort blocks or toy cars, etc. by color and count to see which color she has more of
- when you go up or down stairs, count them as you go
- use a laundry basket as a train or car
- make a dog house out of a big old box and pretend to be a dog - turn the box into a rocket ship, house, car, pirate ship, etc.
- have a "snowball fight" with balled up pairs or socks or a bunch of cottonballs
- work on fine motor skills with activities like beading
- make a "cutting box" for her full of old junk mail, magazines, wrapping paper scraps, etc. so she can practice using scissors (according to KG teachers this is a very important skill many kids need to work on)
- teach her to write her name (print it out for her to trace the letters)
- teach her your address and phone number
- make paper chains to count down to important events like holidays or birthdays - she gets to break off a chain each day until the special day

make a game of snap or pairs. get some card use different colours and numbers, get your child to help. cut the card up try to laminate it first then your card games will last longer. or invest in some of the leap pad systems.
