I've been talking Wellbutrin for a while but it's not working. I see my doc next week and am going to ask for a change.

Can anyone tell me which anti-depressants come in generic form? Generics cost a couple dollars and name brands cost a fortune.

Thanks for any help

Celebrex is not an anti-depressant, but CELEXA is. (Generic for Celexa is citalopram hydrobromide) THe thing is, there are SO Many different anti-depressants, it may take a while to find one that works. I tried five, and none did a thing for me. Good luck! (Be sure to tell your doc you'd like a generic. He can look on your formulary and find which ones your insurance company will cover.)

The Wellbutrin isn't working because you've built up a tolerance for it, your Doc. will probably up your dosage. But, to answer your Q. ask your pharmacist, doctors may prescribe drugs but it's the pharmacists that know what's in them. Check this out http://www.radiantrecovery.com/chemistry.htm#serotonin

I switched from Wellbutrin to Celebrex and have been doing great ever since. The generic form is Citalopram.

I can't recall the name now, but zoloft has a generic form. I was put on that after I was robbed last year- I had post traumatic stress disorder that developed into depression (I somehow thought it was my fault). It's good for long term (if you need it). I hope you get to feeling better.

What works well for one person may not work well for another. You need to keep working with your doctor until the two of you can find the right drug for you. It took 5 tries for me and my doc. Hang in there!

Lexapro is my favorite...I've never taken an antidepressant, but work in a psych hospital as a case manager and have seen great results. do see a psychiatrist and not a generalist!

Do consider other factors....diet, exercise, etc!

Serious Exercise is very underrated for depression...it does work, but you have to do it everyday for at least 30 minutes. Good luck to you!
