I am baking a loaf of Corn Bread and I want the top of it to be "Crusty"

Do I spread butter on there and let it bake? If so how long?

Thanks

Butter will soften the crust.

If you have a cast iron skillet use that.
I put my skillet in the oven while preheating.
When the skillet is nice and hot brush oil on the bottom and sides.
Pour the batter into the skillet (you will have a "sizzle" going on) and bake the required time.
Flip the corn bread onto a plate---crusty crunchy YUM

Butter will soften the crust. Use a cast iron skillet and use a recipe that is a little higher in sugar

I use a cast iron skillet. While oven is heating place skillet on stovetop. Pour a little oil then cornmeal into skillet, cook till light brown. Then pour batter into skillet. When done flip cornbread bottom side up.
