If you want to teach him a lesson take the BB gun away from him and put it up in the closet somewhere's or break it over your knee

That won't work. Your son will really not know why you hit him back and he will think it ok to respond that way. Sit him down and explain what he did wrong (even if it was an accident) and ask for an apology. You need to do this right away after the hitting happened. That works for me. The other way doesn't.

That is not teaching! Who is teaching him how to use the gun? Did you give him the BB gun and let him run loose with it without instruction?
Take the gun away for some time for the sake of discipline. Then, if you are going to give it back, work with your child and teach him proper handling of the gun. No child should be playing with a gun without supervision anyway!

Shooting your child is a form of abuse and will scar him for life! Never do anything that could hurt your child. Give him a little spanking, maybe, but don't really hurt him. And why would you give him a gun? Was in an airsoft gun? Because in which case you could just forget about it...those don't hurt.

If anyone finds out you did that . You could go to jail for Injury to a child. Just take the weapon away until your son is more responsible.

You know, honestly... id throw a drawing eraser at his rear and then make a game out of it. but as your playing this with your son (if hes kind of smaller) make it a game of catch, if yoru son is older, tell him to watch it then chuck and pencil at his butt.

Take away whatever weapon(s) he has until he is more responsible. If you were standing in front of him, you were in the wrong place as well.
